About Grace
I’m Grace, a qualified psychotherapeutic counsellor with a Level 4 Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling.
Prior to training in psychotherapy, I worked in both the private and public sector, within boardrooms, teams and with people from all walks of life. My counselling philosophy is shaped by my values, life experiences, and a strong belief in the intrinsic worth and potential of every individual.
I have experience working across diverse settings, including trauma‑informed services, NHS‑referred clients, professionals navigating workplace pressure, and older adults adjusting to life changes or transitions. These experiences have strengthened my ability to attune to each person’s unique story, pace, and needs.
Working with empathy, curiosity, and respect, together, we’ll create a safe, non‑judgemental environment where you can explore your thoughts, feelings, and behaviours freely.
My therapeutic approach
My work is based in Transactional Analysis (TA), which helps us understand how past experiences shape present patterns. I also integrate complementary theories such as:
- Attachment Theory
- Erikson’s psychosocial stages
- Relational Needs Theory
- Trauma‑informed approaches
These frameworks helping us to further explore your emotional world with depth and clarity.
Where we’ll meet
For my York-based clients I offer a comfortable space to meet with free parking nearby. For clients further afield, we will work together over a secure online platform. Creating a safe online space means you will need somewhere that you can be private with a stable internet connection.
Professional standards for safe and ethical practice
As an individual Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), I work within the BACP Ethical Framework. Fully insured, I receive regular supervision and am committed to ongoing professional development, reflective practice, and cultural sensitivity.

How I work
The Graceful approach to counselling
Working with people from all backgrounds, including professionals who may be experiencing burnout, responsibility overload, or emotional strain. I also work with older people who may be navigating grief, identity changes, or later‑life transitions.

Collaborative, steady, and grounded in building a trusted connection.
Together, our counselling sessions will …
- Be a calm, confidential space where you can talk openly
- Give you time to explore what’s on your mind at a pace that feels right for you
- Offer gentle curiosity to help you understand your thoughts and feelings
- Ensure regular check‑ins so you feel supported and grounded
- Respect your choices, boundaries, and autonomy
- Deliver a focussed way to gain insight and emotional clarity
To do this, using Transactional Analysis (TA) as my foundation, together we’ll explore:
- Ego states
- Scripts and life patterns
- Relational dynamics
- Emotional needs
- Life transitions
Where helpful, I may also use other approaches, including grief work, trauma‑informed approaches and developmental theory.

Simply put, I will use the appropriate therapeutic techniques to help you explore your emotions, giving you the space and confidence to reshape and strengthen your emotional world; helping you to find your own solutions and move towards improved mental wellbeing.
Depending on where you are, here’s how we can work together:
- Online in York and across the UK*.
- Face‑to‑face in York at my comfortable consulting room. Free parking available on site or nearby
*For online sessions, a private, quiet space and stable internet connection is required.
